

Orange
Lake Drive was founded in 1977 by bassist Kenny Burch and drummer Andy
Combs in Pontiac, Michigan. The band recorded its first record in 1982 entitled
"Transcend". Joining Kenny and Andy were Steven Schuetz on keyboards,
Ross Pooley on saxophone and Bill Smitka on guitar.
The second
album, "The Cat", was released in 1984. Andy and Ross left the band
and were replaced by Johnny Borders on drums and David Reinstein on sax. Other
additions to the group were Nina Kahle on vocals and David Mason on guitar.
In 1986
the band won the Metro Times Music Award for best small jazz combo. That same
year Steven Schuetz and David Mason won the Metro Times Music Award for best
jazz composer/arranger and Kenny Burch won for best jazz bassist.
The third
Lp "Fast Eddie" was released in 1988. Larry Fratangelo joined the
band on drums and Darryl Wakefield filled the saxophone chair.
Later
that year "Fast Eddie" won the Metro Times Music Award for best
produced jazz album. Also that same year the band won best jazz combo.
"Fresh
Squeezed" was the fourth Lp released in 1995. Julian VanSlyke joined
the band on drums along with Nick Pena on trumpet and Denise Carter on Vocals.
Orange Lake Drive's latest release is entitled "Driven". Steve, Kenny, Nick and Julian are joined by Dave Staub on guitar and Jerry LeDuff on percussion.
